In-store pickup reduces shipping costs for Walmart, but offers a similar level of convenience to the shopper as home delivery. The two companies said Google would start offering Walmart products to people who shop on Google Express, the company’s online shopping mall.
Can only link 1 purchase thru 1 google email account. So if I'm thinking another family member would need to buy one thru their own gmail and walmart account. Walmart is doubling down on operating its own e-commerce platforms, but there is still opportunity for the retailer and Google to continue to work together.

With this new partnership, Google Express will offer items only from Walmart.com, and not from Jet.com or Walmart’s online clothing sites. Walmart, the world's largest retailer, recently debuted on the Google Express platform. The partnership, which wasannounced back in August, allows customers to place Walmart orders at Express.google.com, on the Google Express app, or through Google Assistant-enabled devices like Google Home. Nothing says 'the future' like asking your smart speaker to buy groceries for you.

Walmart has become the largest retailer to offer products to consumers who shop on Google Express, following similar deals with Costco and Target. Walmart said last week that its online sales — including online grocery — increased 60 percent in the second quarter from a year earlier. It was a big driver in the company’s overall increase in quarterly sales. Walmart is the latest retailer to work with the Google Express shopping program. The holiday shopping season is heating up and Google Express wants to give you $25 off your first purchase from Walmart.com. From now until January 15th, you can use your Google Home to shop Walmart using Google Express and save a little cash on Google.
First, you will need a Google Home or Home Mini device. Once you have your smart-speaker setup, open the Google Home app on your phone and head to “offers” under the settings menu. From there, find the $25 Walmart offer and follow the instructions to link your Walmart Online account and Google Express. Walmart products are no longer available for purchase on Google Express, the search giant’s online marketplace. Google Express first confirmed the news on Twitter on Jan. 22, when a consumer asked why he could no longer find Walmart products on the app. Walmart withdrew the products, according to Bloomberg.

You must purchase from Walmart to get the $25 Walmart coupon. Walmart has continued to invest in its e-commerce capabilities, including moves to build up Walmart.com’s marketplace by adding separate sections for premium brands with help fromLord & Taylorand subsidiaryMoosejaw. Customers can link their Walmart and Google accounts, allowing for integrated features like a shortcut to reorder items frequently bought from Walmart through the Google Assistant voice software. This goes deeper than any other vendor agreement on Google Express. The Google Home Mini is a smart speaker designed to offer Google Assistant services in a smaller, cheaper package. Walmart items are now listed in Google Express, and you can connect your Google account to a Walmart account to easily reorder items. Unfortunately, free shipping is only available once your total reaches $35, but Google has done away with all membership fees for using the service.
What’s Behind Walmart’s Exit From Google Express?
Once that's done, you can ask Google Assistant to order whatever item you might be interested in. The Assistant will read you back options that you can accept or decline and it'll tell you what retailer they come from as well as how much they cost. If you specifically want to order from Walmart, you can say "order dog food from Walmart" and it'll only offer you options from that one retailer. Once you've placed an order, you can just tell the Google Assistant to "re-order" whatever you're looking for and it'll just re-buy whatever you picked up last time.
In March 2018, Google integrated Express with Assistant and its search engine to form Google Shopping Actions, bringing in “hundreds of other merchants” into the platform. Google also recently removed its $95-a-year membership fee for Google Express, which previously gave customers free two-day shipping from retailers on the platform. Now, each vendor will have its own threshold for free shipping. This policy mirrors Walmart.com, which offers free two-day shipping on orders of at least $35. Walmart next year will launch voice shopping for fresh groceries, which customers can pick up from any of its 4,700 stores across the US. Since starting a shopping service in 2013, it has struggled to gather significant momentum.
Google Express is integrated with Walmart's Easy Reorder, allowing consumers to use Google Home to create a shopping list of items they've previously purchased. Walmart launched Easy Reorder this year to help customers build online lists of goods they'd purchased in store. As it grows its marketplace focus, it's possible Walmart may only want to sell on its own site in order to attract more consumers. Additionally, the companies are maintaining a strategic partnership across other businesses, including Google Ads, despite these changes, so Walmart may not incur many long-term negatives from this move. Google began offering Walmart productsthrough Express in August 2017, marking the first time Walmart made its products available online in the U.S. outside its own e-Commerce site. The decision initially appeared to be part of Walmart’s push to gain traction in voice shopping, enabling shoppers to buy via the AI-powered Google Assistant included in Google Home smart speaker devices.
The new voice shopping option for Walmart will launch in late September. Customers will initially be able to order goods from Walmart via Home. However, Brian Elliot, GM at Google Express, told TechCrunch it will eventually expand to Google Assistant and voice interactions on other devices. The alliance with Google Express follows Walmart's April launch of Pickup Discount, offering its customers a discount for select goods ordered online and free two-day shipping for orders over $35.
